So here my problem i have a 84 camaro 305 my key got stuck in the lock position a few weeks back so i replaced the cylinder an it works!! Until now.. Now i put the key in to start the car it wont spring back from the crank position so i have to do it and when i go to turn the key off it wont turn off unless the steering wheel is all the way down. Basically the cylinder moves freely when cars running and wont shut it off. Any ideas?

 

i am, or thought i was, a pround new owner of a new project car. 1989 camaro rs. 305 engine, auto tranny. instrument cluster was a mess, with guages not working and a noisy speedo. figured id take everything apart, clean connections and replace a few bulbs as well as the tach. wired up the aftermarket stereo correctly and now the car wont start. have feul and spark at the coil. am i missing something? anyone with some insight would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Sounds like you'll have to take the column back apart. Neither the ignition switch nor the lock cylinder are spring loaded. Take the wheel back off and see where the cylinder fits in the actuator and if it is not in correctly or if something is broken. Good luck!
