anybody know how to get a msd tach wire to the factory tach?

I don't have an MSD but its a holley (clone). Someone cut the factory wiring and I can't seem to find any wire around the dist area that would go to the tach. The book says it's white. I want to try to hook my tach wire from the CD box to the factory tach. I tried to pull the instrument panel back to get at the wire that way but it seems to only pull back about 1/2 inch. I don't think the speedo cable is holding it but it might be.

Any suggestions?
thanks

JC, if you can't find a White wire in the area of your distributor, try looking at the Bulk Head Connector. Should be located on the D/S Firewall near the Brake Booster.

On 85, 87 and 88's there is a White wire at the 'D6' pin, which is for the Tachometer. I don't know about 89's but this pin is in the 4th row down and 3rd from the left.

On my 87 I just spliced into that wire and ran it to the Tach pin on my MSD-6AL box.

I'm no expert but give it try.

It's on D6 in '92, as well, so I'd bet it's in the same location in '89.
