86 T\A 305 TPI F single fan. This thing is so hacked Jeffrey Dahmer would be proud. I'm relying on this community. I can imagine your faces when you see the radiator fan switch installed where the temp sender goes..the fuel pump relay wrapped in DUCT TAPE and a jumper wire from battery to fan relay pigtail to kick fan on. I'm starting fresh...replacing ALL relays and pigtails. My request if anyone would be so kind is to have a picture posted of a properly functioning cooling fan relay pigtail as I'm ready to rewire mine and pretty sure current one is not wired correctly considering 2 contacts are CHARRED. TIA

OK here's where I'm at. Replaced fuel Schrader valve, maf burn off relay, maf power relay, fuel pump relay, coolant fan relay and pigtail. Can't drive car because not tagged yet, but runs like GARBAGE with brand new maf connected, runs fine with it unplugged. Also, noticed upper radiator hose very tight but was getting good heat and temp gauge was well below half way...do these take some time to warm up? Was running for 5-7 minutes in 80° temp...nonetheless open to suggestions about MAF

FML its hot out there. Fan now works comes on at 230ish and cools car down....ran with maf connected runs like **** and get no codes....run without maf and got a code 43 I guess ESC and knock sensor and check wiring next?

This new MAF , is it one of the $99 autoparts store rebuilds ?
I ask because more folks have had more problems with the cheap rebuilt MAFs then I could ever quote here . I'll bet a search of "defective new MAF" will bring dozens of threads saying pretty much what you describe ;
"runs better but with codes with the new MAF unplugged , and runs like crap with it plugged in but no codes"
If it is in fact a cheap "remanufactured" MAF that could be your whole problem right there , yet another of the dozen stories of a defective rebuilt MAF .
