Speedo needle removal
I have an 85 Camaro and my speedo has an 85mph face. I have a 110 mph, but the back of the speedo is broken on the 110. I would like to swap the spinner that is broken with the one on the 85mph, but I need to get the needle off. Can I remove the needle and if so, how?

Re: Speedo needle removal
Well; to remove the needle, pull it up. To re-install it,.... Push it down.
If you do not "lock" the needle mechanism in place BEFORE removing the needle, it will be installed wrong and the speed reading will be off. I posted instructions on how to do this in the past so "SEARCH" for that post for more info.
More importantly; Once you remove a speedo faceplate ( from an 85 MPH unit for example) and install another faceplate from a different speedo head ( from a 110 for example ) you will have built a speedometer that doesn't work properly. The 85 speedo head will always be calibrated for the 85 faceplate,...... no matter what faceplate you decide to stick on it.
in other words, If you have an 85 MPH speedo,... the only faceplate that can be used on it & show an accurate speed reading is another 85MPH faceplate.
