Starter wire issues

I own a 1992 Chevy Camaro RS 3.1L V6 and it runs and drives just fine. It would not start one day so i ended up replacing the ignition switch under the steering columb, That did not solve the problem. I went under the car and say what looked like a starter wire disconnected so i jimmied it back in and it started right up drove it around the block for a few days until i drove to the auto store to get **** to change the oil. The car would not start after numerous attemps at messing with the starter wire and jumping the battery it would click but not enough power. From my manual it says there is 3 wires connected to the starter +, - and the switch wire but there is only a negitive wire from what i can see and the single wire that keeps poiing out. The wire that keeps comming out has a yellow clip on it that clips only what looks like a black grommet on the block i can not trace the wire because it is too short.
Does anyone know what wire that is or where i can find a new clip to solder on the end?
