blaster 2 coil, need ballast resistor or not?
I have reason to believe my coil is bad, at least I hope that's the problem. Most of the time the car barely has enough power to move itself and most of the symptoms seem to point towards the coil. Anyway I want to redo my ignition system and I wanted to be sure to get the right part. Do I need a ballast resistor with an MSD blaster2 coil for an 89 firebird 2.8 EFI. I'll probably get an MSD 6A along with it. I don't think I need the resistor but I'd like to be sure.

If you use the coil with a 6A or 6AL, you will not nees the resistor. When connecting it to your stock ignition module, I don't believe you would need one, because there is no provision for bypassing the resistor while cranking the engine, but you would have to contact the MSD tech dept to be sure.
