Turn signals not flashing at all
Originally my car had an issue with the turn signals staying solid both in the dash and on the exterior when the parking lights or headlights on. Now my turn signals stay solid even with headlights and parking lights off. The only thing I've tried so far is replacing the turn signal flasher which made them not flash at all, so I returned it. Could someone please steer me in the right direction ? I'm an electrical noob as well so, please bear with me. Thanks in advance!

IIRC, there are 2 flashers, did you replace the correct one?

Re: Turn signals not flashing at all
issues with turn signals that change behavior when the lights are turned on are often tracked to the installation of an improper lamp

(By the way a faster Pit Stop would be to buy an electronic flasher which will flash even if the bulbs are wrong.)
But if you’re on a budget, check all bulbs to make sure they are the factory specified type, and installed correctly.
A common mistake is people installing 2 filament bulbs 180° rotated.
Some crazy symptoms have been reported doing that.

Re: Turn signals not flashing at all
I checked all the bulbs and I realized that the right reverse light bulb was separated from the metal base of the bulb. I replaced that bulb and both sides flash now but the right side flashes really slow at first and then it speeds up. So I guess I'm off to go buy an electronical flasher tomorrow.

Re: Turn signals not flashing at all
Now that you have found a problem and corrected it, did you replace your original flasher once more?
Keep in mind that a digital flasher will make no clicking sounds. That is kind of disturbing to some.

I bought the flasher late last night and it was too dark to put it in so I'll do it around noon today. And I'm perfectly fine with no clicking, I think I'd actually prefer that.

Re: Turn signals not flashing at all
I just put the electronic flasher in and now the green arrows in the dash don't light up, and the turn signals dont flash or even light up outside the car. Any clue where to proceed from here?

Did you check the corner lamps in the fenders?

I would put the old flasher back in and see if they work with that,You may have picked up a bad replacement.

The old flasher works but it's very inconsistent. Also I replaced it one time before and the flasher did the same thing as the electronic one I just put in so I returned it and put the old one back in.

Maybe the electronic Flasher isn't compatible with the bulbs we use(just a thought) You should use this type of flasher

Getting Flashed
Thu a spare 10 amp fuse, jump the flasher socket.
With the key in the run position, operate the signal stalk.
Do any of the signal lights illuminate?
If yes, your new flasher was defective.
If no, use a test light (the type for testing for voltage, not a continuity tester) to probe the purple wire going to the steering column connector.
It’s the larger of the connectors located on the right side of the steering column.
If there’s power there, turn the blinker to the left position, then probe the LIGHT blue wire at the same connector.
Is there power there?

Re: Turn signals not flashing at all
I messed with the car yesterday and used the turn signals while I had the new electronic flasher in it and they worked intermittently. When they worked they still didn't work with headlights or parking lights on though. Does this mean anything?

I think there's no way around measuring for power at the connector mentioned by NINÅ.

A way to find it is to jump thru a 10 amp fuse, the turn signal flasher.
Then place the turn stalk in the left or right position.
If a signal lamp illuminates, connect a tone generator across that socket.
You should now have a steady tone.
Now you can wiggle every wire in the circuit.
When you hear the tone interrupted you have found the loose connection.

Look for signs of non-factory connections at the lamp sockets.
Look for splicing in the left area under the dash where.
There’s a chance there was a PO installed alarm which tied into the lights.

Re: Getting Flashed
I'm messing with the car right now and I tapped the emergency brake over to the side and the car stalled out but before it stalled out the flashers started working while I had on the parking lights. After investigating this further I can replicate this. Also the turn signals work while the headlights are on now when the parking brake is in a certain position but only if you tap the actually turn signal flasher itself. Any ideas? This is when the electronic flasher is in. When the regular flasher is in they work when the parking lights are on but not when the headlights are on. If this doesn't make sense I can record a video to show what happens.

Re: Turn signals not flashing at all
The turn signals are the last thing I need to straighten out to pass inspection. So even a temporary fix will work.

Re: Turn signals not flashing at all
Last time I had a permanent green turn signal light was when I had a faulty aftermarket turn signal socket in the front.
The ground connection inside the socket itself sucked, so when it began losing contact the green light faded in.
