Temp Gauge Inaccurate

Temp Gauge Inaccurate
Ever since I did my headers and exhaust, the temp gauge has read about 50 degrees low. It seemed to work fine before then
The fan comes on when it should, at 193 degrees, but I went ahead and changed the sending unit, anyway. No help.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

Temper Tantrum
Here’s how to test the temp gage.
Disconnect the green wire from the temp sensor.
Clip in a 100 ohm resistor from that wire to the ▬ battery terminal.
Turn the key to RUN.
If the gage is good it will read about 220°.

That's good information, thanks for your help.
I remember reading something about a pigtail causing a similar problem a couple of years ago, but I can't find the thread.
