Si alternator wiring
I tried looking through the archives and can't find a solution to this problem. I bought my car a while back and the wiring is all messed up. The latest problem is my alternator was charging but voltage was all over the place. From pegged out high to 9 or so. It was wired with only the battery wire hooked up and a jumper to #2 terminal. I tried hooking it up right after I found the wires but it's still not charging. Now the choke light is on which I read is the same as the batt light on other cars. On the alternator wires I have 6.5 volts on the brown wire and nothing on the red. I can't find a good wiring diagram for my car. It's a 86 Camaro with the lg4 I think.

Re: Si alternator wiring
It could actually be wired correctly, but just failed.
1 wire alternators are wired this way.
Before getting into your car's wiring, take the alternator
to your local parts store, where they will test it for free.

Re: Si alternator wiring
I'll try that before this weekend. It needs to be tested anyway after that. I was just wanting to undo some of the quick fixes the previous owner did.
