!989 Camaro wiring issues
New owner of a 1989 Camaro IROCZ, 5.7L. The previous owner cut the 4 wires to the Distributor in the wiring harness by the coil and tapped into the wiring harness directly up by the heater fan. (see pick with me holding 4 crimped connections, goes directly to distributor 4 wire plug). I can see the same 4 wires cut down by the coil pack so not sure where they go. Car is running this way but failing smog for high NoX. Not sure if the wiring is causing this but need to straighten this out.
Should I reconnect the 4 cut wires to the wires going to the distributor?
These wires are white, black/red, purple/white, tan/black. Does anyone know where the 4 cut wires go in the wiring harness by the coil pack? The wiring diagram states these 4 go from the ECU to the distributor. My distributor plug and 4 wires wires are separate from the main harness and bypass before these cut wires to the same colored wires by the heater fan. I also do not have a set timing connector in the tan/black wire. Is it normally in the area between the heater fab and coil?
I do see a tan/black wire with connector on the other side of the air conditioner condenser but not sure if that is tied to the timing.
Any pictures you have of this area and distributor 4 wire plug will help me visualize the correct setup.

Does anyone have some pictures of the wiring harness showing where the 4 wire plug comes out for the distributor so I can compare to what I see?

I would put everything back to stock. I see what you mean by those splices. I have no idea what they spliced in to. I think if I were you, I would cut those splices free and reconnect the distributor per the diagram and see what happens.
I think the timing set connector is in the area you mentioned. You can probably do a search on Google for an image of it. If that is unplugged, the car will not run correctly.
When you say "coil pack" I take it you mean the ignition coil.

Re: !989 Camaro wiring issues
Thanks for the feedback. If I reconnect the 4 wires together (take out the splice connection made by the POS), I won't have a plug to connect to the distributor. The spliced connections go directly to the distributor plug which is why I think the 4 cut wires are dead but would like to confirm with pics from someone else's wiring showing where the 4 wire disti plug comes from. I cut the tan/black wire next to the splice and confirmed the timing would not move. base timing was set at 12 degree's which could explain my high NOX so re-set it to 6 degrees and reconnected the wire. I'm going to add a set timing connector to this wire so I can confirm base timing in the future. Coil pack = ignition coil, my typo.

Hey guys! 87 iroc wipers not working. Had cooling fan tapped into wiper motor, have since rewired the fan and now wipers aren't working. Getting power to fuse block and fuse is not blown. No power to motor, any ideas on what problem could be
