Re: Power lock relay location on 87 iroc
Thanks! So I got this 87IROC with 79k original miles on it...only had 2 owners and is all original. Looks like it's been babied most of it's life...some of the switches for example feel "broke" tho? Example the right hand side mirror seems to work fine, but the left hand side doesn't work at all....but the directional point seem particularly weak on the left arrow on the switch...is this kinda common on these cars? Or how the lights work great but can't get a low beam...feels like on the switch there should be a middle section that stops the handle you pull...again I'll get it all fixed eventually...but was just wondering was all.

The turn signal lever you pull to change from high to low beams just pushes a rod down the bottom edge of the column to work the switch that is further down the column. You can get down there and see it. Try pushing the rod in to the round piece that the rod fits into and see if that toggles the lights. You can also sometimes work the tilt column up or down if you have one and make it work better too. If that works you just need to slightly loosen the two small bolts that hold the switch in place and slide the switch toward you to take up the slack then tighten again. Good luck !

And welcome to TGO. You likely have several small things that will need adjusting, the car's been around for a while.
Have fun with it!

Okay cool...yes the rod works! Just not with the low beams....so if that does now work would you recommend buying a new switch? Thanks for the welcome...well I have been a mechanic on Apache helicopters for 10 years now in the guard...and I'v always been a car enthusiasts...owning this IROC is about showing off history and educating the young people...not molesting it. So I'm trying my best with my budget to slowly bring it to a show car for car shows and what not...while still driving it like it was intended to be on a week to week basis....now I just have to balance my skill level with "Hey Steve, I'm bringing this to you, can you take a look at it" lol. Does the switch click when you push it? And when you push it again it does it or doesn't it switch from hi to low? If not I have no idea if it's the switch. check wiring on the switch and that the high beams are grounded properly.
