87 IROC power locks work but not all the way
Hey guys, so my 87 IROC power locks work...well not really. When I press both of them they make noise and move...but they dont fully engage the locks one way or another. Any ideas on this thanks!

Take the door panels off and clean the solenoids and slides. Your locks will work so quick you'll think a gun is going off. They just get gummed up. Use WD40 and some light graphite lube.

Check the relay under the driver's side kick panel. You can't miss it, big metal can with a single screw holding a tab to the body. That screw is the ground for the relay. Now you can clean the paint off under the tab, and make sure the screw is tight, but personally, I took a 14awg wire about 18" long and put a good ring terminal on each end, and ran it from the dash ground by the column, to the relay ground screw, and used a star washer at the relay end. The result was a lot better pop.
Of course it's not a bad idea to clean and lube the rods and solenoids, along with the bellcrank pivot. While you're in there, you may also want to consider cleaning and lubricating the window tracks and rollers, since the original grease has frequently turned to concrete. Also goes without saying, the door latches and door hinges, weatherstripping, lock cylinders, etc are all supposed to be cleaned and lubricated regularly, and most people never bother.
