Electrical issues

So, went to take my daughter out for a ride in the firebird the other day and I noticed the radio had quit working, then I noticed the power door locks don't work , the hatch doesn't pop, the power mirrors quit working, the overhead light doesn't come on and the passenger side headlight doesn't come up... are these things connected in any way? what could cause them all to stop working at the same time? the driver side light still works fine, and the windows still work, I did just have to fix a loose neutral wire going to my battery, is it possible the loose neutral blew some fuses?

Re: Electrical issues

Check your Convenience Center fuses. It located above your right knee in the dash. It should swing/pull down. All those goodies are in there.

Re: Electrical issues

is it possible that the shorted battery blew the fuses? I'm gonna check them out when I get home

Re: Electrical issues

so that whole fuse box swinging down/ pulling down, does not seem to work. and since I'm not a contortionist I used my phone to take a pic, interestingly enough there is no fuse in the radio spot. and I don't see one for interior lights. I'm confused lol

Re: Electrical issues

I see the ctsy fuse, but what all does that control? I can't imagine everything (headlight, hatch, mirrors, radio, and interior lights) all going through the same fuse. and I see the spot where the radio fuse looks like it should go, but there is no fuse there and yet my radio WAS still working.

Re: Electrical issues

The swing down fuse panel is to the right of the fuse panel in your pic, on the other side of the steering column underneath (by your right knee). You grab these two plastic cover tabs and squeeze to press in the tabs and it swings down.

Re: Electrical issues

All those things except the headlight run off of that fuse. Is it blown? If it is and blows as soon as you replace it, disconnect the connector from the back of the lighter socket( also on that fuse ) and try it again. The lighter sockets short out over time and disable all that stuff. Happened to me but found the solution here. Careful with the orange wire in the lighter connector, it's always hot so make sure it's insulated or protected well. Replace the socket whenever you can if wanted
Have fun!
Not sure if the hatch is on that fuse either...

Re: Electrical issues

I finally got a chance to replace that fuse last night, it was blown. interior lights come on now, radio, mirrors ect. but for some reason I didn't think to check the hatch. I'll have to check that out tonight. And as for the headlight, I think it might be binding up, I replaced the fender a few weeks ago and I haven't had a second person to help with the alignment (bumper/fender needs pushed back and bolts tightened). so I guess I will try to check that out tonight as well.
