I have a 89 Camaro. There are two black/red wires next to the junction box that the previous owner cut. I have not found them on any wiring diagram I have looked at on prodemand.

The black/red wires that will be located in that area should be the wires connecting the electric cooling fan for the radiator to it's controlling relay . Has the previous owner put some kind of aftermarket controller (or even a cheezy toggle switch) on the electric fan , or possibly even replaced the electric fan with either a different one or maybe even one of the old kind that bolts on to the waterpump ?

Just fixed this on my car! PO cut open the plastic wire wrap and spliced the from the fan to the battery so every time u want to go somewhere u gotta pop the hood. Fixed now and so far so good the solid black was for ground and the black w/ red stripe was positive from the relay
