Sounds like a bad socket, then.
Buy a new pigtail socket (socket with 6-8" wires) and splice it in.

NoEmm
I guess you know this, but the turn signal works in the same socket as the hazard light that doesn't, so how could the socket be at fault? The contacts for the bulb/socket obviously work for the turn signal, thus wouldn't it have to be the source of the connection for the hazard light portion?
thx
tom

Oh, so you are saying that the same filament in the bulb does both functions?
Or does that socket have 2 separate contacts for the bottom of the bulb?
What is the bulb number used in that socket?

Edit: I just saw - 1157.

So it is 2 contacts at the bottom in the socket. The contact that is for the hazard function is either compressed down into the socket so it is not making contact with the bulb, or there is a break in that wire somewhere. Remember, the side of the bulb is ground. 1 filament for TURN, the other for HAZARD.

The factory normally puts grease in the sockets. But over time the grease gets hard and can cause problems like this.

Thanks NoEmm
In all my yrs on the planet I never knew the 2 contacts of the bulb were 1 for each filament! Now it makes sense
