Headlights have mind of their own
Headlights have mind of their own
Scary...this has become an ongoing issue!

So I'm driving to work at 5am, it's dark out, my headlights go out....everything...all lights. Few seconds later they come back on. This problem is getting more and more frequent.
I've noticed that it'll act up more if I switch my hi and low beams.....today I discovered if I tap and wiggle the selector on the steering my lights will go off and on.
Anyone ever experienced headlight shorting issues in the steering column?

Had this happen before random all the time. changed out the headlight switch and problem went away. But since yours is reacting when you mess with the hi low switch I would determine there lies your short.

If it's ALL lights - headlights, parking lights, & dash lights - that'll be the headlight switch.
If it's HEADlights ONLY, then it could be the dimmer switch (on the column), or the headlight switch.
Both are relatively cheeeeeeep and eeeeeezy to replace. It's probably eeeeeeeezier to just swap them out than to try to troubleshoot them, as the wiring isn't very accessible. It's as much trouble to try to measure voltage as it is to change them.
I'd be more inclined to suspect the headlight sw, but IMO that's just more likely, not a certainty.
