Pressure washing

Hey, first let me say nice sight. There seems to be a lot of passion here. My question involves the wipers. When ever I pressure wash under the hood my wipers turn on. I simply pull the fuse on them for a while and it fixes itself but I was wondering if anybody could help me on where to find where the water is, that is creating the problem. I have pulled the wires the the wiper motor and blew on them with compressed air but that doesn’t seem to be where the problem is. The car has done it since it was new. Any thoughts, thanks.

Re: Pressure washing

Sounds like a short on the delay circuit board. Can you pull the board cover and silicone around the perimeter. This use to be a fix for the c/k trucks after the cold solder joint was fixed on the circuit board.

Re: Pressure washing

It might help to know what year/model car you're working with. From 82-92 there are at least a few different wiper motors. If you click the link that says UserCP at the top of the page, and click 'Edit your details', you can fill in the fields near the bottom, and your info will show up under your name when you post.

Tuned Performance, could you help me with where that would be located? If I posted a picture of my firewall would that help?

Like drew said there are a few different motors. But if it has a cover like this you can remove it a silicone around the mating surfaces.

The rusty or corroded top edge needs to be cleaned and sealed properly.

Re: Pressure washing

Here is a picture under my hood. I thought by the way that piece was shaped Tuned, that it was just up and right from the carb in the picture. The plastic piece on my wiper motor is snapped on, not bolted on.
