Engine bogging at high rpm

I got my new trans broken in the other day and I just put new fuel filters, plugs and wires on. I got on it real hard and when i got to about 5k rpm the motor bogs down real bad and backfires. I cant tell if its going lean or going rich. It used to run clear up to 5700 but now it struggles getting to 5k. I'm currently running an HEI distributor on a carbureted V8 with a mechanical fuel pump. Has anyone experienced this before?

Re: Engine bogging at high rpm

Found my problem, my airbreather was grounding a plug wire on the distributor. I put a different breather on and it runs fine now
