Switched constant 12 volts while cranking?
I'm installing an aftermarket EFI system on my 87 Camaro and one of the wires needs to be hooked up to a switched 12 volt source that stays a constant 12v and doesn't drop voltage while cranking. I know the ignition is switched and stays a constant 12v during cranking but I'd like to use a different source to avoid any possible RFI issues. Any suggestions as to where I can hook into? Thanks

Unplug the power to the coil or pull the centre lead off the diestributor, grab a testlight and start looking at sources on the fuse panel towards the FRONTof the car that stay hot while cranking. I found one which stayed hot in run and hot in crank. Run a wire from there as a trigger for a relay, then run a dedicated power to a fused relay to your injection system.

I believe I used that existing wire that Tibo mentions. I think it's pink. Been awhile since I did it. .....I actually used the OE plastic bracket and mounting location too. Looked like my Holley HP unit was made for that spot!

Thanks for your input guys! I will check into the spot that Tibo mentioned. I did call Holley and they said to run a relay like zed-028 mentioned. I did pickup a relay today but if I could use the existing wire from the ecm that might be the way to go. My Camaro was an LG4 carbed car from the factory.

dude, run a dedicated wire on a fused relay, dont stuff around with a 30 year old wire as your power source
