Restore original gauge cluster or fix the autometer cluster?
Restore original gauge cluster or fix the autometer cluster?
I jus got myself a beautiful 1982 Camaro Z28. There are some gauge cluster issues I would like to fix. Currently it has an Autometer Phantom II cluster with a speedometer that doesn't work and the tach only works when the car is stopped, which makes no sense to me. Also it no longer has the 305, it had a 350 swap sometime in the past
Would the effort to put the an original style dash in be worth the effort or should I fix the gauges already in it. Originality would be nice but, I am okay with using the current cluster if it works.
Also, if anyone has a suggestion for a replacement window motor that would be great. Thanks.

Autometer repair would be easiest, you can replace the gauges or see if you fix them. The tach probably has a loose wire to the dizzy and the speedo likely has a bad drive gear or cable if cable driven, bad VSS otherwise. Have to check these things. Cheap to fix in any case. I have all autometer gauges no problems with them.
