Best Scan Tool for the money?

Done some reading and I see where some people have had issues, some won't work on OBD1, etc.

So, working on an 88 5.7TPI. Just bought it to get back in the thirdgen game and am wondering, what is the best bang for the buck scan tool on the market today for OBD1? I have an OBDII, but is is not adaptable to OBD1. Want to make sure I can read live data from the cockpit.

If the answer is software on a lap top, I would be OK with that too.

Honestly I'd go here, and I did http://www.moates.net/gm-19851995-c-64.html and get the OBD adapter, plug into your laptop and download the free scan software. It's more than enough. There's also very good apps for the phone available as well.

Sounds like a plan.
