What's it do? Maybe that has something to do with why the 86 engine in the 85 doesn't run like it should. Thank you for the info.

The 85 MAF TPI design was a 1 year only set-up and requires specific parts,... Year of the motor itself is irrelevant; if ALL the 85 specific parts are re-used / re--installed on the 86 engine - or an engine from any other year - - any replacement engine should run just fine.
