Radiator Fan Won't Turn Off
Radiator Fan Won't Turn Off
Car is a 2012 Mitsubishi Galant.
When I turn the car off, the fan runs until the battery is dead. It has happened repeatedly.
I usually detach the battery to prevent the drainage, and when I reattach the battery, no matter how many hours later or what the temperature is, the fan will almost always come right back on. This happened regularly at 5 in the morning in December.
I'm guessing that something in the temperature sensor is malfunctioning, or that there's some kind of a short in the on/off switch. I don't have tons of money and am capable of doing simple work myself. What can I try to see if I can solve the problem without a mechanic?
