O2 sensor wiring
O2 sensor wiring
I have a quadrajet on a '84 L69 that the previuos owner has trashed the intake temp sensor, choke, egr, wired open the secondary AV and siliconed up the choke pull and choke av, amongst other abuses and wiring i shudder to look at.
He took the bulb out of the check engine lamp to hide the constant warning. Now i have it back in i get the 13 and 32 codes and surprise surprise the O2 sensor is in place but the wiring has been cut, with no sign of the line back to the ecm anywhere.
The wiring diag says the wire is purple, but on mine there is the remains of a melted black connector an an inch of orange wire, I spose it could be purple in good light and if it wasn't stuck on the manifold.
Where does this wire come through the bulk head and is orange or purple? does it wrap around the carb or should it be in the conduit with other nearby sensors?

It shouldn't be plugged into the bulkhead connector (drivers side firewall). The wire it plugs into should be purrple & would run across to the other side and thru an opening in the frame rail next to the blower box. From there it goes to a connector that passes thru the hinge pillar & leads to the ECM.
