88 Camaro mess

88 plain sports coupe. AC was added. In short the wiring is a major issue. I'd like to change the whole thing out. I think the problem is somewhere in the dash. I put a engine harness from a 88 Camaro in it and got rid of a bunch of the stuff someone added. I have no fuel pump power as before. No power to the injectors.as before. But now no power to the spark plugs. Before it would run if you poured gas in the TB. Now nothing. I have a running 89 firebird. With the l03. Can I make it work in the 88 if I use the complete dash and engine harness?

Firebird and Camaro Dash harness are very different....... AKA: not compatible.

WAY to different for me to try and explain all the variances,..... do yourself a favor and just find the the proper CAMARO dash harness.

Re: 88 Camaro mess

If you use a dash harness from an 89 Camaro in an 88 Camaro than you will need to accommodate ( or bypass ) the VATS. 89 has it and 88 doesn't. If both cars are TBI then most of the other wiring should be plug and play. Stick with another TBI harness to make things as simple as possible. You can convert an MPFI or TPI harness, but I find it best to make things as simple as possible before starting a wiring project like this.

Re: 88 Camaro mess

Thank you John. I've rebuilt a few fire damaged harnesses before. I know repining is all different. Do you know the vin code for v8 TBI? Dumb me. Should be the same as the car I have.
