Tablet as dash gauges

I’ve been looking around for more info on this topic, but haven’t found much. Please point me toward another thread if this topic is covered in detail elsewhere.

I’ve got a 1986 IROC that is being converted into a 24 Hours of Lemons car. My team and I want to use an android tablet as a gauge cluster. No need to tune, just display info like speed, revs, water temp, oil temp, fuel pressure, oil pressure, lap time, etc.

How much of this info can we pull from the OBD port? What kind of plugs/wires will we need? Any recommendations for software? Any general recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

I haven't heard of that existing for OBD1. It exists for OBD2 as Torque or a few other programs. What's wrong with using the stock gauges? Isn't part of the rules to stay within a dollar amount? This seems like a project for a show-n-go car.

Maybe this ? You'll need the correct cable or bluetooth adapter to go with it.

As far as the dollar amount goes, you can rationalize using something that everyone has, such as a tablet. Just hope they don't start asking about the cost of the software. I have heard of people using this, I will ask around....
