hot wires

ok on with the saga, i replaced the the inline fuse holder that i put in at the battery with the proper fusable link. so now the wire that is coming from the altenator is getting hot. and also sometimes when the engine is running the meter on the dash starts going nuts. the lights and everything start to dim then get bright again. then it just starts working ok. this is like trying to find a needle in a hay stack.

any and all help is greatly appreciated.

You have an overcharging problem. The wire is getting hot because the alternator is trying like crazy to charge the battery. Most likely due to a low/bad battery cell. You may have one cell in the battery that is not holding a charge. With your other electrical problems you may have harmed the alternator also. Have the battery and alternator checked at the local auto parts store. Remove the alternator and put it on a test stand. The internal regulator may be bad. Have the battery checked with a load on it to see if it has a bad cell. Good luck.

nope not the battery, i had it checked today and it is ok.im thinking that it all revoles around the cooling fans and relays. ive ordered the pig tail that connects the main wiring harness to the fan relay(there is bare wire showing) also im thinking of replacing the pig tail for the alt. connecter.(that was changed before also. and they did a crapy job of it.)oh and this weekend ill pull the alt. and have it checked.

ill let ya know what happens.

thanks.....
