Since it looks like one of them used to be purple , and one may have been black , my best guess would be that it's for your torque converter clutch as seen in this wiring diagram . Look at "converter Control Solenoid" and "Brake Switch" to see the purple and pink/black wires that I believe those to be .....
The two wires actually went to the rear window defogger swich and were toast all the way to the switch. Disconnected the wire from the bottom harness and pulled it off the switch. Not sure if it affected the switch itself but guess I'll be tracing down the what cause that to fry. It doesn't look like the wires from the bottom part of the harness were damaged.

That's why the wires were COOKED !!!!
Your picture shows an intermediate fog light harness that should connect the fog light button to the fog light harness on an 86 Camaro. The PURPLE wire on a Rear Defroster button harness is about 4X heavier gauge to be able to handle the heavy voltage the Defroster requires. DON'T re-wire the defroster with anything like that fog wiring !!
* I've probably still got a Defroster harness available if you need 1.
Finally got back to it and you are right it is the for the fog lights. Still trying to figure out what would have cooked they to that point. So I take it I should use 14 gauge to replace those wires? Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated on this one.
The Fog Light Harness in your engine bay is an independent harness in 86. I'd begin by inspecting that harness closely from end-to-end to look for problems. The relay itself should be mounted on the drivers side near the "battery tray". There should be a 2-wire plug near it that connects to the HEADLIGHT harness. Check to see if anyone spliced/hacked into the factory wiring in any way and check the relay for signs of overheating/ burning-up.
