Cruise control dosent work

Not sure if this belongs here, but when I search cruise control I don't find any threads on this for some reason. I have a 91 base model 5.0 automatic firebird. I have not been able to get the cruise control to work. Are there any common problems I should start looking at?

Re: Cruise control dosent work

Check the switches on the brake pedal arm. If one or the other backs off the CC thinks you are on the brakes and disengages.

If the speedometer isn't working the VSS or buffer box may be bad. Which would also prevent the CC from working.

Check the vacuum lines that go to the orb of power (vacuum ball under driver side front of car).

I would start with all the vacuum lines, ALL of them in the entire engine compartment, then try again. Also I might recommend that you get a vacuum pump to make sure the diaphragm is still in good shape

Thank you both for replying. Once I am home from school this summer I will start looking into these areas. Thanks again for your suggestions.
