There is a switch attached to your brake pedal assembly that the other end of that vacuum line attaches to. It threads into the bracket above the brake pedal. It's easy to see, so remove the vacuum line so that your cruise removal is complete.

I believe the plug was a mix of wiring from the controls on the signal stalk, brake sw or VSS buffer (w/o looking @ a diagram..)
The vac hose went to brake switch and vented the cruise vac diaphragm as a redundant(?) for making the cruise unit release when hitting brakes.

The cruise harness is "stand alone", you should only need to disconnect the connector and vacuum port and then remove the grommet through the firewall and no cutting necessary

Bring this back from the dead... just got done messing with this connector. & hose It goes to the Servo unit that on my '84 is inside the engine compartment near the LF headlight, not under the dash! Only way to get to the connector is to unbolt the servo from below car (2) with 13mm socket, the hose goes on top. Sorry no pics of the back connector but you have a good one. I had to replace the boot, what a PIA! Still trying to get the CC to work after ECM & wiring removal
