Had an issue just show up where my speedo and odo both weren't working. Eventually they kicked in, worked a bit, then cut again. Is it the same wire(s) that control both (Perhaps they came loose)? Or should I be looking somewhere else for an issue. Wanted to check before I start ripping the dash apart for no reason.

VSS, Vss buffer ,c207 bad ip. All possibilities ecm code 24 showing ?

 

Just checked for codes using the paperclip method - top right two terminals. Just constantly blinked 12 which leads me to think no codes are being thrown. Assuming that rules out the VSS?

 

Yes I would suspect Vss fine , automatic transmission ? If you can feel tcc lockup I’d think cluster is bad or back connector on the buffer to ip.

 

Ya it's an auto. I have gauge overlays on it but the ODO craps out when the speedo craps out so i doubt it's the overlay lifting. Are the speedo and odo driven by the same cable / connector or are they independent? I did have the dashpad off recently but i didn't touch or move anything in the dash. Pulled it to put the a pillar molding back on after yankin the headliner.

 

No cables involved with either one. The cluster has two electrical contact points that do everything. cluster could not be in tight enough or need some clean up of connections. Remove the bezel from around the cluster and check the mounting bolts first. Will have to remove light **** and finesse the steering wheel down a bit. Just take your time, will all come off without any strain on parts. If needed just remove the mounting bolts and the cluster pulls right out and can be tilted toward you to clear the steering wheel and come out. Oh yeah, bezel just pulls straight out after bolts are removed and you will see the two mounting tabs that hold it on. Have fun!
