Adding cruise control?

Been searching on here for a little while, I can’t seem to find where this has been done. Am I missing a write up somewhere? I have an 87 formula I swapped in a column from a donor car that has cruise. What else do I need to make it work? All the tpi is still intact on the car.

Re: Adding cruise control?

You need the brain box that mounts under the passenger's dash, the harness from the brain to below the steering column, the harness from below the column to the servo, the servo, the servo cable, the brake light switch and vacuum valve at the pedals, and the cruise turn signal stalk. It all plugs right in. Donor parts need to be from approximately the same year car.

Re: Adding cruise control?

A nice upgrade that declutters the engine compartment a little is going with an electronic cruise control rather than vaccum.

Do you know how many people ripped-out, all of the Cruse-Control System Parts from there Third-Gens to clean up the Engine Bay?

LOL! There has to be tons of those Parts in the Junk-Yards.

Re: Adding cruise control?

Will an 89 iroc setup be close enough to work with my 87? Can get a whole setup from an 89 for a good price.

It blows me away the amount of "things" people delete on these cars then wonder why they suck or abandon the project.

Re: Adding cruise control?

89? Probably. In later years they changed the harness across the dash.

Re: Adding cruise control?

Don't know how well it works, but Dakota Digital has an after-market cruise control system for I think around $350...
