Need help with electrical problem

New member so let me introduce myself. I'm 75 years young and know just enough about wiring to get in trouble.

I bought a '92 RS project car. The prior owner had cut the wires to the gauge connectors to install a digital dash. He could not get the speedometer, tack and water temp gauge to work. He installed a free standing water temp gauge that works. I reconnected the wires to the connectors and replaced the digital dash with an original dash. Still no speedometer, tach nor water temp gauge. It drove fine I just had to pace myself off other cars.

The clutch safety switch was broken and instead of replacing it he connected a push button to start the car. I replaced the switch and rerouted the wiring now when I try to start it I get a very brief hit on the starter and the 10 amp 'Gauges' fuse blows.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
