Window motors whir and whir but they don't move the windows
I already have a few ideas but I can't test them right now so I figured I'd ask here, the wiring seems correct to the wiring harness and the motors will whir while I press the up switch but they don't move any thing. I've tested for power and everything that should have it does, I don't recall a burning smell so I'll have to see if I do when I get home. Any ideas on what could prevent them from moving. The passenger one went up without pressing a button so take that as you wish.

Yeah, a long time ago, just to see if I could do it, I took my driver's side window motor apart and put new brushes in it, to see how much longer it'd run . It made it almost 10 years till the little plastic gear finally gave up. Just so it's made perfectly clear, you won't be replacing any little plastic gears, you'll be replacing the motor since these are assembled as non rebuildable units. I've got a bit of experience working on electric motors and that's why I repaired the one that I did.
Do a search around here for replacing the motor "the easy way" without taking the window regulator out to do it. It involves drilling 3 small holes VS gutting the door. Be mindful that there is a VERY strong spring that acts as a counterweight for the window, as the window lowers into the door the spring becomes tighter, this helps the motor when it's time to lift the window back up (so the motor isn't lifting the window's entire weight by itself, it's being helped up by the spring that got tension as the window was going down). That spring is very likely why your window moved upwards by itself, when the motor's gears are stripped bad enough the motor can't hold the window at any position, and the very tight spring is there pushing up on the window.....
