Re: Wiring help

Why wouldn't you use the existing wiring from the '87?...

Re: Wiring help

I don't think your gonna find specific step by step "the red wire ties into the orange" type of instruction here, such swaps vary by the donor powertrain being installed.
With that said, in general, you will of course want to get the full wiring diagram for both the 87 Camaro and the 94 Buick , and then make sure you wire in the 94 harness to receive all of the power, ground, and signal inputs/outputs that the 94's system had when it was in the Buick.

Re: Wiring help

A 1987 Camaro would have fuel injection from the factory. Did a previous owner swap it to a carb?...

Re: Wiring help

87 was the last year of the LG4 in these cars. So, yeah... Or of course, coulda been a swap. What's the 8th digit of the car's VIN?

Is this Roadmonster engine a L05 (TBI), or is it the LT1?

Re: Wiring help

Have you seen the stickies in the engine swap forum? That might get you the jump start you need on your project.

These f-body's can be confusing. '87 was the last of the carb'd cars. In '88 the choices were TPI, TBI or MPFI (V8, V8, V6). Which continued until '92. Note that TPI and MPFI was available starting in '85.

Then trying to keep track of center bolt or perimeter bolt valve covers, 1-piece or 2-piece RMS, then roller or non-roller cams and the head just spins...

Then of course are the rear disc brake setups, the rear axle types, axle spline count, and the SAE versus metric brake lines. OK, I'm done, I think my head just did a 360...

Okay, so I guess '86 was the last year for the L-69, but '87 for the LG-4...

Re: Wiring help

L69 continued until 88 in the MC SS. Not these cars though.

Not sure what year or what platform was the last victim when the LG4 finally was put out of its misery.
