Re: problems with Berlinneta wiring

the harness is different for the berlinettas. it can be made to work, but it is more time and cost effective to try to find a factory harness. what engine did you put in?

Re: problems with Berlinneta wiring

why or how would the engine harness be any different ?

will be the same plugs for the alternator, starter, distributor BATT and TACH spades, and so on... as in any other gm vehicle in the '70's and '80's

no difference

good luck

Re: problems with Berlinneta wiring

The difference from the digital Berlinetta engine harness to that of a "regular" Camaro is that the Wiper motor plugs are different, there are 2 wires for the electric Speedo Sending unit.

There are also wires for the wiper washer and Radiator Fluid levels. but those *might* be on the ECM harness. ( I can't remember right now! )

Everybody should listen to this guy in Rhode Island. He is a freakin genius when it comes to Berlinetta's. And don't let ANYBODY talk you out of changing anything out of your Berly like the radio or the dash. When everything works, it is magical. My Berly is fully functional thanks to him. John is a frikkin magician with them. (Hi John)

Re: problems with Berlinneta wiring

John, I am in the mood to fix the temp gauge. It reads low all the time. It barely moves when the engine is warm. Any ideas? I've swapped out the sender with a new one. I've even taken resistance readings from the hot sender and duplicated them on one of my other Berlinetta's. Those gauges work correctly. Is it possible for the gauge to be out of calibration? I doubt seriously if it is a wiring short as nothing has been modified on the harness. It is still virgin. I really don't want to remove the cluster right now but if I absolutely have to I want to be damned sure when I put it back there will be no reason to remove the f***r in the near future.

Re: problems with Berlinneta wiring

I wanted to post these pics on the web for awhile so that you could download them if needed. I'll leave then for a month or 2 before deleting the files.

The shop manual calls for using the "J33431-A IP" Tester and the "J33431-30" Test Adapter. I figure that info is useless,...... The Third Page will check to see how far off the gage calibration is !

Enjoy !
