I think I originally started this thread in the wrong place so I apologize if that’s the case. I have a 89 TA that is carb swapped. If I go out and make multiple stops the car will die. The alternator was showing high fifteen volts or more up to 20+ volts at times when I checked the voltage at the battery terminals with the car running. I got a reman alternator and it stayed just as high so I took it back. I got a new battery same thing. How can I fix the over charging issue?

 

The sense wire going to the alternator plug may have a problem causing the alternator to output much higher voltage.

Maybe probe the sense wire too.

 

the sense wire is the red wire coming off the alternator? Where can I probe it to make sure it’s working okay?
