V6 TPI to V8 Carb swap. Fuel pump relay questions

Hey guys,
I pulled the 2.8 v6 TPI engine out of my 89 Camaro. Built a 355 with an Edelbrock 600 cfm on it. This car is a wreck in terms of wiring, the fuel pump relay pigtail was burned up. I got a new one but have questions.
1. I pulled my ECM, if that wire now goes nowhere, is that going to be a problem?
2. What does the ALDL do? With no ECM do I need to run that wire?
3. Should I just drop the tank and put in a pickup for a mechanical pump and not fool with all this wiring?

I don't have much experience wiring, so please go easy. Most of the threads on here are full of dead links, or are so old I don't want to respond to them. Thanks.

First:
Upgrade from your Original (Early Design) Electric Fuel Pump Relay and Electrical Connector, to the Newer (Late Design) Parts shown below.
The Image below shows 3 Relays... 2 are the Early Design, but the Relay on the Right-Side has been upgraded to the Newer Design:

-Electric Fuel Pump Relay (Standard Motor Products = Part Number "RY109"):

-Electric Fuel Pump Electrical Connector Pigtail (ACDelco = Part Number "PT1115"):

If you need help Wiring/ Connecting the New Electrical Connector Pigtail (such as, which Wire goes to which Wire)...
Please just Post here, that you need help.

Second:
Based on the Original Wiring for a 1989 F-Body with the 2.8L MPFI V6 Engine, One Wire from the Electric Fuel Pump Relay needs to be wired differently.
The 18AWG Dark-Green Wire with White Tracer is the Positive Trigger, and goes to the PCM Connector.
This Wire will need to be cut, and then connected to any Ignition switched Power-Source (12V Positive).

Third:
Your First question does NOT specify which Wire you are referring to.
Please clarify.

Fourth:
The Data-Link Connector (ALDL Port) will essentially NOT serve a purpose without the PCM.
Many years-ago; I used to repurpose the ALDL Port strictly as an override for several Electrical Relays (like the Fan, Fuel Pump, or Torque-Converter Lock-Up Clutch).

ALDL Port shown below:

The Image below shows the Original purposes of the different ALDL Terminals (this applies to most GM Vehicles of that time):

Fifth:
While there are Mechanical Fuel Pumps that will support over 700+ HP (in the Stock Location)...

(And when run off of the Camshaft, Crankshaft, or Accessory-Drive, they support 5,000 HP - 8,000 HP)

I recommend staying with the Electric Fuel pump.
