Odometer gear don t turn

hello. On the 1990 Firebird 3.1 the odometer does not work. I have disassembled it to see if it had the gear that moves the motor broken, but it is not. I try to turn it with my fingers but it doesn't turn. I'm afraid to break it. how do you unlock it?

Re: Odometer gear don t turn

Has the gear turned yellow and sticky? It could be stuck to the shaft or the motor has failed

Re: Odometer gear don t turn

Might as well plan on replacing the tripometer gears while you are in there. Those are probably bust too.

I don't reset my trips anymore in the GTA because whenever I do, half the time it won't work any more. I'll probably find nothing but dust and grease in there when I open it and wonder how it even worked at all.
