Jack up and support the rear. Put in neutral, take off park brake. Assuming it has a posi, turn a wheel exactly one turn, and count the number of times the driveshaft goes around. A 2.73 ratio will turn about 2-3/4 times; 3.23 about 3-1/4 times; 3.73 about 3-3/4 times, etc.
The only exact way to know is to pull the diff cover and divide the number of ring gear teeth by the number of pinion gear teeth and round off to 2 places. Good excuse to change the gear lube at the same time (probably needs it).
