Autometer fuel pressure gauge
Has anybody here wired up one of these fuel pressure gauges with any of the Holley EFI systems(Dominator, HP, TermiX) ?? The gauge I'm referring to is the 3363 sport comp
If so, did you use the sender and am the crap that comes with the gauge it did you just tap into your fuel pressure sensor for 5v and signal?? Or do you have to use the pro control stuff it comes with?? Seems like an excessive amount of wiring for just one gauge
As always thanks your time everybody

Re: Autometer fuel pressure gauge
I did wire one. Mine is a #5763 Phantom. Same type though.
I believe, the Autometer gauge is independent (stand alone) of any EFI systems one might have. The gauge works with the #2246 Autometer sender that is included. You have to tap the sender into the fuel system to get a reading. Mine is installed on the Aeromotive adjustable fuel pressure regulator. I use GM '730 TPI EFI system.
My set-up does not have a "fuel pressure sensor". You'd have to check with Autometer if your "fuel pressure sensor" signal is compatible with their gauge.
As far as "the pro control stuff it comes with", I have no clue what you are talking about. The gauge only comes with the sender (2246), wiring, NPT fitting, bulbs and mounting hardware (2230).

Re: Autometer fuel pressure gauge
I'm just about to get my fuel pressure gauge and I'm looking at the wiring and it's got a sender that's 0.5v @0psi and 4.5v @100psi now I've got a Dominator ECU and am currently using a fuel pressure sensor in my regulator that uses the same values.
Would I be able to just tap into that wiring and send it to the autometer gauge?? I don't see any issues with it but does anybody else see anything I'm not??
Thanks guys

Interesting. I believe the ECU sends the reference voltage to the sensor. If you hook the gauge to the same sensor, the ECU and Gauge will most likely back feed each other possibly creating interference. Not sure what the results would be. Maybe you would need a diode of some sort on both to prevent current from back feeding. Just a thought!
Make sure the " 0.5v @0psi and 4.5v @100psi" is the reference signal to the gauge sensor and not the datalogging signal. Gauges usually use 2 wires. One for the sensor and one for the datalogging.

If you use a Fuel Pressure Gauge that also uses a 5 Volt Reference Type of Sensor...
Then you can use only One Sensor for both the ECM and Gauge in Parallel Circuits.
If you use a Fuel Pressure Gauge that uses a Variable Resistance Type of Sending-Unit...
Then you must use Two Separate Circuits. One for the ECM and One for the Gauge.

Holley EFI is going to use a 5 Volt Reference Type of Sensor for determining Coolant Temperature.
If you use a Coolant Temperature Gauge that also uses a 5 Volt Reference Type of Sensor...
Then you can use only One Sensor for both the ECM and Gauge.
If you use a Coolant Temperature Gauge that uses a Thermostatic Resistance Type of Sending-Unit...
Then you must use Two Separate Circuits. One for the ECM and One for the Gauge.

Re: Autometer fuel pressure gauge
Got the fuel pressure gauge and vacuum/boost gauge installed today. Ended up not tying into the Dominator wiring and used the autometer harness. I figured I'd eventually have to take it out when I finally take the car in to get body and paint.
Seeing how I've got all the other autometer gauges I just tapped into the wiring harness with a couple tee taps and done. Checked the pressure of the gauge with my laptop and it reads bang on
