VATS Issue - 1992 RS - bypass installed
I’ve installed the Gator VATS bypass. I went through all the resistances(not able to read the chip via OHM), no luck - however, only one resistance did cause the “security” light to go out after a few seconds - the other 14 options did not. What I want to know, would that be the correct resistance even though it didn’t start and we are probably looking at a deeper issue? TIA!

Why not just bypass the starter enable relay and get a tuned chip ? Just curious why fussing with bypassing the key cylinder reader ?

So the gator sends a hz signal to the ecm ? Or it just has switches to send 1-15 different ohm readings to the passkey module?

Sounds like on the value where the Security light goes out, you are successfully simulating the key. If the start enable relay has physically failed, it will still prevent the juice from going to the starter. You can remove the relay and install a bypass with 12ga (or something, it's thick) wire and two male spade terminals to test this.

wow just looked it up, just a few dollars of resistors for $100 bucks ouch 🤕.
jumper the starter enable relay large gauge green to large gauge yellow under the driver side kick panel and go back to the resistance that turned off the security light as suggested.
