Hatch switch

Hatch switch blew a couple of 40-amp fuses. So replaced the gray relay and a new hatch switch but the switch buzzes only. Any ideas appreciated. Tnx

Re: Hatch switch

That makes me think the problem started somewhere other than the switch itself, or the relay.

Try disconnecting the positive terminal where the wire reaches the rear latch. If the switch still buzzes with it unplugged, that wire may be shorted somewhere.

EDIT: After studying my wiring diagrams, that doesn't make much sense. Instead, if your '84 is wired like my '92, the two coil terminals in the relay socket might be shorted together, or the relay switch terminal might be shorted to ground.
