So it's been a while since I did my "Pics of every component of a 700R4" thread, so I thought I'd do another, this time being the headlight door motors. This set was my car's original set that about 10 years ago I replaced the soft bushings (some call them "pellets") and nylon gears in. Interestingly, with both gears cracked like that they still worked when I removed them, it's just that the right hand one was making a loud whirring sound. I put two brand new motors in around 2 years ago because of the whirring the RH one had began making and these were hanging around the shop, so I took them apart for these pics. I've gotta admit I'm somewhat curious as to people's thoughts on the solid pellets I installed ten years ago. The original soft bushings had of course turned to mush, but the gears were fine. I bought a set of the solid bushings and nylon gears and now (after 10 years use) I see both of the replacement gears have split, could having removed the cushioning of the soft pellets caused the split gears?
Anyway, here's some pics, any and all comments/discussions are most welcome. Oh, and, sorry early third gen guys & gals, but I don't have any of the old 3 wire motors to show.......
