Wow man. Those look pretty good. That's my biggest con against 'birds is the pop-up headlights. Are the headlight motors now defunct?

Maybe later, it'd be something cool to clean up the gaps maybe by removing the panels from the headlight assembly, and attaching them to the hood so it all opens together.

Nice...

Nope, headlight motors are just fine, just unplugged. Yeah, I am hoping with my new hood I am gonna have them fiberglass over the headlight holes and make it one solid piece. Should look sweet.

Yeah, that is why I did the mod because I can't stand the pop-up headlights!

I like it a lot. The pop up light are also my big beef with the birdys. Looks sweet man. Are they enough light at night?

I was waiting for that question, and yes, thanks to the 4 lights (two for distance, two for fill) they do a very good job lighting it up at night. They are way better then the headlights I had more, and that is without my fogs. Once I get my fogs set up right it will be nice and bright.

That looks cool. I've seen a site on the net where this one person made the headlights into like what the sunfire has. They took out the light completely, cover and all, and fabbed a new light nad covered it with plexi-glass. Is what you have legal since it is basically all fog lights?

It is actually a driving light and a fog light. Driving lights are made to extend beyond headlights.
Is it legal... I kinda doubt it. Will I ever be pulled over for it. No, because they are bright enough but don't blind people and cops have better things to do.
WA State doesn't have inspection, so that isn't a worry, but I didn't destroy anything so it can be returned to stock easily.

I love the way those look when they're on, not so much when they're off. A single piece of clear lexan in front of them would clean it up alot appearance-wise in my opinion. The only problem I can think of with that is that those lights get pretty damn hot, the lexan might get too hot and distort if it was too close. Maybe a single piece of lexan covering those lights and the parking lights; making it flush like headlight covers do on Camaro's.

I tried Lexan and one time, it melts really fast... last time it took... uhhh, 2 weeks before the was so distorted that it fell off. I am going to do some thick mesh stuff infront of them, thick wires and big holes.
I totally agree they don't look near as nice off.
Lastly, good luck ever getting them to disappear totally... I have tried and spent 3 months working on it, using Fiberglass and other things and I could never make it look descent and give out enough light to make it worth it.

I think it would look realy bad *** if you did something to completely fill in the bumper openings and flush everything up together. like make blackouts that cover the intire area.

All the problems with filling the headlight holes are the fact of heat. The headlights get hot fast. They are both 100W bulbs in rather small housings. That is why I wanted to do some sort of mesh so it doesn't restrict air flow.

Looks very nice, but I do think it would look nicer when they are off if you made them look as if it were one headlight. I definitely think its a good idea because I don't like the pop-up headlights at all. Nice job.

What's up with you guys not liking flipup headlights? Yes the motors are cheaply made especially when one cost me $234.00 for a brand new one. But, that's what makes a Trans Am a Trans Am. Although AmorgetRS's car does look really good. I still love driving down the road and seeing my headlights raise up and it's like my car is saying "Get the **** out of my way". :-)

jobryan26: Pop ups look like ****, plain and simple. They do on almost all cars (the exception being C4s and C5s and new Firebirds) Other then that pop ups look like ****. My headlight motors work just find, no problem, just I can't stand the way they look. Stand infront of your car at night and you will see how ugly they really are.
That is the only thing Camaros have over Firebirds, at night Camaros still look good. I think most people on the boards will agree with part of that statement. Yes, and from behind the headlights don't look all that bad and its kinda cool to see them pop up, but from the front they are just *** ugly. That is why my first car wasn't a Firebird, because I just couldn't stand the way the pop ups looked.
Anyway, that is enough out of me about that. As for making it look like one headlight, that would be cool, but I don't really know how I would do that....

I agree with jobryan26! Who the hell cares about how well the pop ups look at night from the front- it's too dark to see 'em anyway! Besides, I see nothing wrong with the fronts! (Unless of course the motor's stuck and someone spins it so one headlight's up and one's down; I hate that.) If you don't like pop-ups then stick with the Camaro. I love my flip up headlights; you guys are the first I've ever heard say otherwise.

[edit] Oh, by the way, nice mod; although I prefer functional flip-ups!

I think it looks good. I really like the look of those birds over any other year. They have a very low front and everything fits right. Nice job on the install, it looks like it'll hold up pretty well.

Tom, just a quick note.. reason why I don't stick w/ a Camaro.. because Camaro's front ends are ugly IMHO (flame suit on) Firebirds look better until the headlights come up.... but down they look a lot better... so I had to find a way to fix that.

I wasn't expecting flames about the headlights, just making the comment about Camaros :-)
Hehehe, anyway, how long did it take... well, it took ~150 bucks in total, which includes all the mistakes I had and about 6 months of working on it off and on. Originally I wanted to make a plexiglas cover that looked like the stock headlights, then put the light behind that... but that didn't work. Then I tried 4 driving lights, but they wouldn't aim right... so that didn't work, then I tried thereflectors only from the fog lights, but they ended up melting that surounding plastic piece and the plexiglas that they were behind.... at that point I gave up for a long time, then gave it another shot and I came up with that setup in about 5 hours of work and there it is....

I like the way the look, and I think its a bad *** mod, buuuut, I also like the pop ups, I like seeing them pop up when I turn the lights on, and I think they look good from the front at night with them on. I also use them to "wave" at friends I see on the road

thats one of the reasons I never wanted a firebird... popup lights, I like the way the rest of the car looks but the headlights are just too weak and the popups are just problems waiting to happen... if I ever got a bird, the first thing to go would be the lights, just as amorget has done they look a lot nicer in person...

and they sure beat the brightass foglights he has....

I liked the looks of the one with the lexan covers also. Except the guy who did it painted the inside part yellow which looked crappy on his black T/A. Amorget's looks better IMHO.
