Camaro front lamp harness routing?
Camaro front lamp harness routing?
On Camaros which opening in the radiator support does the front lamp harness go thru to get from inside the engine compartment to outside the engine compartment underneath the top of the rad support where it gets clipped in, and then which opening does it go through to go back into the engine compartment where it appears to go in back of the battery? In my assembly and service manuals It sort of looks like it goes thru the openings where the high beam headlight wires go thru (directly in back of the headlight prongs) to get plugged into the headlights, but there are other holes in the same area it could also probably go thru, so I'm needing to know for sure how it's routed.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Camaro front lamp harness routing?
On my 83' (keep in mind this car may or may not reflect the true factory assembly) the wire harness for the headlights - exit the driver side core support in the elongated hole bellow the round hole closest to the radiator. From there the harness runs in front of the air baffle in front of the radiator (I added this part from an 85' and above Camaro). On the passenger side the only part of the harness that goes back through the core support are two wire ground wires. The remainder of the harness remains outside the core support.

Sorry about that, the ground wire goes through the round hole on the passenger side closet to the radiator. Right below that hole, there is a small hole were the harness retainer clip sticks into to hold the harness.
Re: Camaro front lamp harness routing?
Maybe I need to start another thread about this, but do you know of a source of the so-called "rosebud clips" that clip the harnesses on our car to the sheetmetal? I ordered an assortment of these on eBay and, even though it looks like they would go thru the mounting holes, I can't for the life of me get them to go thru without drilling out the holes (which I hate doing). It's as if our cars need clips for 6mm (1/4") holes and these clips are for 7mm holes. Also, the aftermarket clips always have that extra barb on them that OEM clips usually never had. I suspect I could probably get ones exactly like the originals from Delphi/Aptiv if I could find the right part numbers (good luck with that), since you can still get all the connectors and terminals from them for our cars.

I know for the harness in the back tail lamps I used the following:
These fit the sheet metal holes without drilling. But they are tight and hard to remove once installed.
Luckily, my front bumper cover is off; so, I measured the clips on the front harness and compared the original with the ones supplied above and they will work for as well.
