1986 iroc Camaro gauges

Hi Folks, I own a 1986 iroc Camaro, I also own a 1992 Camaro z28. The speedo and tach are worthless in the 1992. I’m not sure how Chevrolet ever built a car with these. I am wondering if the speedo and tach are any better at working in the1986 cluster than the 1992 half moon style . Should I just go aftermarket? Thanks!!

The Camaro people will know better, but......

I thought the 1986 was a cable operated speedo, while the 1992 was electronically operated?

If I'm correct, it'd be a literal boatload of work to use the 86 speedo in the 92 car

I think 1990 was the first year of electronic speedometer in the camaro.

I know my 1989 RS still had a cable.

The above is correct cable speedo through '89 on camaro-just look around to find usual fail cause on 90-92 tach and speedo and repair/have someone repair.
