Two wires need help identifying

Just purchased this 87’ iroc a few weeks ago. Haven’t fully dove into anything on it yet, but am wondering what these two wires are coming from under the dash/steering column area.

one wire is purple/lavender color and the other is a thicker black wire. I do know the car was manual from factory but previous owner swapped into automatic years ago. Car does fire right up and move, outside of the seized up from brakes.

any thoughts?

The black one is a 4- or 5-wire cable coming down the steering column from the cruise switch.

Purple looks like it could be the starter, esp if it's a big fat one. Does the car start without the clutch pushed?

Yea the car starts up just fine, and its automatic now. Whoever swapped out the manual trans decided to keep the clutch for some odd reason. The purple/lavender wire is much skinnier than the black wire.

Then it's beyond me to guess what kind of PO sodomy and hackage it represents. You got me swinging by the *****.

Good luck.
