Speedo ? Part 2
Speedo ? Part 2
I posted a couple weeks ago about my speedo - for the first few miles after starting off it lays on 0 then eventually jumps up to my actual speed and works fine until the next time I shut down the engine. On advice from you guys, I bought a cluster from eBay, after being assured by the seller that all guages worked when he took it out of his personal car.
I swapped out the clusters today and still no speedo. Everything else is fine, although I did started getting a SES light on rare occasion a few days back.
Assuming that the new/used cluster is good, it seems the problem isn't in the speedo.
Any other ideas?
Thanks,
T

Try changinr your VSS. It's a little round canister looking thing with 2 wire connector on it on the rear driver's side of the transmission tailshaft. If I remember right the code is something like MD8/MD9 or to that effect. You should be able to find it on the RPO sheet in your car. Mine was under the locking storage pocket in the hatch. Buy the VSS from the Chevy dealer. The ones from everywhere else don't work. I had this problem about a year ago. Changed the VSS and solved the problem. Hope this helps...
