Ignition Probs. Electrical? Help!

Hey guys.
The last few days, i have noticed that my car wasn't pulling as hard as it previosly did. It felt like it was pulling out timing, but wasn't registering any significant knock retart, maybe 1-3* or so. But you could feel is slow in the revs at different times, like an ignition problem.
The other day i took it out for a spin after fixing a vacuum leak, and the tack was acting wierd. It would hang up through the rpms, like a cable speedo does under accleration, but the engine seemed to be reving smoothly. It did it only under heavy throttle.
I put it in third and played with it, and at about 4500 rpm under throttle, i heard a small poof. Almost like a fuse burning out, but louder, from under the hood. It didn't sound mechanical, I think electrical. It killed the engine, and i coasted to a stop.
Well, now it seems i have no ignition. I have changed the module and coil with no luck. It cranks fine, but it seems to hang up sometimes during cranking too. It will crank fast and steady then bog for a second with drag it seems. I have fuel pressure, and no codes. It almost wants to start when cranking but doesn't. All fuses are good.
Is there a fusable link that gives power to the ignition? Could this have burned but allow a small bit of power every now and then, which would be why it almost starts? I have heard that when fusable links go out they can still pass power but very little through the melted core.
I don't know what else could have gone out. The computer seems to be working. What else in the ignition can go POOF!?
thanx in advance
Paul

I suppose the igniton module in the distributor could go 'poof!'. They can just go when they feel like it. I think the last time I bought one they were like $14 at CarQuest, not out much if that's not the real problem.

Usually, just like a fuse (but more of a pain to replace), once a fusible link is toast, it's toast.

The coil get's it's power from the ignition switch (if I remember right).

Have you pulled a plug wire & verified that the car actualy has spark ?

Hey, well it turns out that the distributer gear was luch for my cam gear! It is all chewed up and stopped spinning, so there was no spark at the plugs.
A friend of mines car died the same way once, but it was the module, so i thought maybe that.
Now i wish it was that. Here goes some more crap
